If you wish to LEARN how to microchip companion animals (dogs, cats, ferrets and rabbits) then you should consider our 3-hour training workshops that are designed for ease of understanding and offer one-to-one guidance by a QUALIFIED veterinary surgeon and an EXPERIENCED tutor. We are beginning to hear of people being trained 'at home' by a sales person sent by the microchip company - in our opinion if you want to be trained to the highest standard then you should carefully consider the options - and be trained by a vet - training is an investment in your future not a product from a bargain basement. Gain confidence and a good reputation as an Implanter by training with the UK's Number One Training Provider - pet-detect - BTW as far as we know, no other company ANYWHERE is bigger than pet-detect in training non veterinarians to microchip companion animals. Workshops start at 1.00pm and finish at 4.00pm and are normally held on either Saturday or Sunday at many venues, ranging from village halls to university lecture halls, all across the UK. We are mindful that microchipping is a hot topic right now and that many people want to train - we will do our best to increase the number of training dates accordingly. Certificate signed by the vet and tutor upon demonstration of competency (this is yet another reason for you to consider who you choose as your Training Provider - we don't hand out the certificates until the vet has decided who has passed (most people do pass) - we doubt if this is a consideration if you are trained 'at home'. Your customers will want to see who trained you, and if they see you have been trained by a vet (the vet's name and credentials are on the certificate) we are sure they will have more confidence in your ability. See our Training Course section and also check out the FAQ's and Testimonials for a real flavour of what to expect. Once trained, you can microchip your own litters AND offer your clients a Microchipping Service. Great for Rescues who wish to raise additional funds. You can begin by ordering your Starter Pack on the day of the course and you will receive a handy Eco Bag as a thank you gift. You can then store all your equipment in one place - neat idea! Note - we are happy to take an order, but of course there's no onus on you to place an order. Rescues, please ask the tutor for a Rescue Price List. We subsidise the training and chip price for Rescues. If you fall into one of these categories, then this course is for you.
You must have a connection to the pet sector in some way in order to attend this course. Microchipping pets is not a 'start-up' business, you should ideally be involved with companion animals in some way so that you mix and meet other pet owners. Word of mouth is the best way to get customers. The Government (and the KC) are making all sorts of noises about pets and microchipping. Let's hope this leads to meaningful legislation. You will be well positioned if it does :) Why not learn to microchip? Gain a really useful qualification and save ££'s on veterinary fees! Training Courses throughout the UK. The cost of microchipping three of your own animals is included in the price of the course. You must bring at least one pet to the course (dog, cat, rabbit or ferret) but you can being up to three pets. An experienced vet demonstrates the technique and is on hand for one-to-one advice. Bring a friend or colleague to class as an Observer at no additional charge. In fact, we recommend you bring an Observer so that they can look after your animal/s whilst you are in class. Training sessions last 3 hours.
(all prices exclusive of 17.5% VAT) NOTE: We do not actually take payment until you have successfully completed the course. If you intend to pay by cheque please send the cheque within 7 days of your booking - we cannot hold the place open for you until we have received your cheque. If you do not pass on the day (most people do!) – you will NOT be charged and you can come back on the next course. To book your place right now, scroll up and hit the 'Book A Course' button in the main Menu on the left. NOTE: If you book your place and do not turn up, and don't let us know, you will not be able to re-book. We check every new registration against the 'No Show' list. Most courses are fully booked and have a Waiting List and someone may be able to take your place at short notice. Please let us know if you can't attend - it's called LIFE HAPPENS. Just let us know and you will be able to attend another time. If you are a 'no show' - you will not be able to attend one of our future courses - this is a hard and fast rule. We do not hold courses during the 'hot weeks' of July and August - although the weather is not always predictable! This is simply to avoid animals being too hot whilst waiting. Even outside these months, there may be unseasonably hot days and we urge everyone to be mindful of leaving animals in vehicles - even with the windows down. Please bring an Observer with you - they can make sure your animals are comfortable and safe. All our venues are animal friendly and normally have parks or shady areas nearby for your animals. If in doubt about the weather, and you can't bring an Observer, we suggest you cancel your place on the course rather than risk your pet over-heating. Cats and small furries can come inside to form a creche in an adjacent room. We separate each species.
