Microchipping sturgeon for caviar

1 Feb 2017 16:21:14

Caviar has always been expensive, but now that the methods for harvesting it from fish without killing them the fish become very valuable in their own right, because they are producing the next crop.

The producers have selected the world renowned Trovan microchips for their reliability. They are implanted in the 'shoulder' area, well away from the caviar! This is a different site from where we implant koi.

Merry Christmas 2016

22 Dec 2016 14:10:16

We have had an incredible year. The new legislation in force, setting upn a new treaining course -we are still waiting for DEFRA approval - 4 months and counting!!!

Paula left to volunteer on a game reserve in South Africa, and Sophie joined us.

petlog still haven't sorted out their problems but the team are good and working hard to get on top of it. We still believe that long term petlog is the best way forward with protected secure data.

The All in Ones are going well, the mini chips are inching forwards towards the regulars.

All in all, a good year, but a very busy one. I have been out of the office far too much but they probably function better without me.

Thank you all, please have a Great Christmas & New Year, last orders are today, and the office is closed until the 4th Jan.

I will still be responding to some emails such as the backtrack ones from the Kennel Club and the easy ones!

Best Regards

Peter Scott

All in Ones now in 10's

2 Jul 2016 19:04:28

The good news is that the superb Trovan All in Ones are now packed in 10's, the website has been updated except for the quick order screen, if you order 12 your order is translated to 10, and so on 24 is now 20, 36 is now 30, 48 is 40,

This should be fixed very quickly but requires our web guys rather than something a vet can do.

New All-in-Ones now available

8 Oct 2015 12:08:40

Here at petDetect, we’ve been looking at ways to help our implanters feel even more confident when implanting a microchip.

An important part of any procedure is quality tools. However, you also need to feel comfortable using the tool to maximize success and minimize issues. We appreciate everyone is different with their own unique approach so we have introduced all-in-one implanters alongside the needle only system. This increased flexibility should allow you to choose a system that works for you. Trovan has offered these in other countries for many years to great success, particularly with vets.

The All-in-one system is available as a preloaded syringe. Individually sealed in sterile blister packs they contain the same quality mini and regular Trovan microchips as the needles. When the microchip is fully deployed the plunger will lock into place to prevent any withdrawal occurring. The entire unit can then be safely disposed in a sharps bin.

All-in-one microchip implanters can be ordered here (just select ‘all-in-one’ as the implanter type) with a blue plunger for mini microchips and a white one for regular ones. Please be aware they are offered in boxes of 12 – not the needle-only boxes of 10.

If you have any more suggestions about how we can better help our implanters why not contact us

Microchip Adverse Event Reporting

21 Apr 2015 16:31:49

The Microchipping of Dogs (England) Legislation 2015 has resulted in a significant development with the introduction of a formal Adverse Event Reporting system for microchips in the UK. This is a positive step forward as it should eliminate unproven reports of issues linked to microchip insertion; giving a clearer picture of the issues and regularity in which they occur. It is hoped this will improve the microchipping industry as a whole.

If you are an implanter, vet or curious pet owner, you can visit our Adverse Event Reporting FAQ for more information on what classes as an Adverse Event, the system, and how one is reported.
